Vehicle Import⚓︎

General⚓︎

What is Vehicle Import used for?⚓︎

Vehicle Import allows you to upload vehicle data in order to update fleet units’ master data in bulk.

Which users can use Vehicle Import?⚓︎

Only users with the Fleetmanager role have the required permissions to use Vehicle Import.

What is a CSV-file and how do I create one?⚓︎

CSV stands for Comma Separated Values and is a filetype containing a spreadsheet. CSV-files can be created and edited with common spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.
You can also download a sample CSV-file that contains the necessary columns from the Vehicle Import page in FleetControl and populate it with your own vehicle data. Learn how to create a CSV-file.

Data⚓︎

What do the different columns refer to?⚓︎

Each file uploaded has to contain the following columns:

telematicsUnitId

The telematicsUnitId uniquely identifies a telematics unit. For CloudBoxxes, this is the QNR. The telematicsUnitId is used to identify the fleet unit to be updated.

customName

You can use this column to assign custom names to individual fleet units. This name does not have to be unique. For example, this can be useful when adding fleet units for testing and needing to find them easily in Fleet Viewer.

licensePlate

The licensePlate refers to the exact license plate of the vehicle you are adding or updating. If you want to add a vehicle that does not have a license plate yet, you can omit this cell for the import and add a license plate in FleetControl later on.

VIN

The VIN uniquely identifies a vehicle. It refers to Vehicle Identification Number and is printed on the vehicle’s frame in multiple places.

Do I have to upload complete sets of vehicle data?⚓︎

No. Not every cell of the CSV-file has to contain data. However, even if all cells in a column are left empty, the column still must exist.
For example, if the data you are importing does not contain license plates, you can only import the fleet units’ VIN. Then, you can add their license plates in FleetControl at a later point.
