OBD Feature⚓︎

This page contains information about the OBD features of CloudBoxx.

General Information⚓︎

OBD is only available in OneAPI, the other connections in the harness are GND and 12V. For this feature you need at least CloudBoxx firmware version 2.17.

Data we get through OBD⚓︎

There is no obligation on manufacturers to provide OBD data. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that data is always available. However, most vehicle suppliers do provide this data.
Also we are not sure about what data is available and whether or not it is sufficient for sharing, so all vehicle models need to be analysed for OBD use and the data we receive depends on the vehicle model. Generally we get Ignition | Mileage | Speed | Fuel Level.

OBD power consumption⚓︎

We have tested and found that the CloudBoxx doesn’t use more power with OBD. Whenever the CAN value is high it checks for OBD information, otherwise it sleeps.

Installation⚓︎

Besides the OBD Harness, there are two additional harnesses which are not required but can be ordered:
Y-connector: Through this connector it is possible to place the CloudBoxx not directly in front of the OBD connector. It can be placed in a different spot. Further the original functionalities of the OBD connector remains unchanged.
Flat connector: This connector makes sense for vehicles where there is not much space at the OBD connector, or whose OBD connector is covered. After the connection via the flat connector the cover can be reattached.
Configuration is done via SmartControl when adding vehicles. There you can select OBD as the installation option.
