Filtering

Discover all available vehicle data points in FleetControl and learn how to customize columns, apply filters, and make the most of your fleet’s information. Quickly find, sort, and track the details that matter most to your operations.

Why This Page⚓︎

Use this page to:

  • Display only the vehicle data you need
  • Sort and prioritize key information
  • Filter by live status, health, or operational data
  • Save filter sets for quick reuse

At a Glance⚓︎

  • Columns: Show or hide any available data point in the Vehicles table
  • Filter dialog: Add one or more rules to narrow results
  • Filter operators: Change based on the data type. See Data Point Types for the full list
    • Ignition equals On (Boolean)
    • Mileage greater than 500 (Number)
    • License Plate like ABC (Text)
    • Last Contact less than 2025-08-01 (Date/Time)
    • Tags in Berlin, Cologne (List)
  • Saved filters: Reapply your most-used settings in one click
Filter configuration in FleetControl
Example of filtering vehicles in FleetControl

Quickstart⚓︎

  1. Go to Vehicles.
  2. Select the Gear icon to choose which columns to display.
  3. Select Filter to open the Filter dialog.
  4. Pick a Data Point, choose an Operator, and enter a Value (if required).
  5. (Optional) Add more filter rows to refine your results—filters use AND logic.
  6. Select Apply Filter to see results instantly.
  7. (Optional) Select Save as preset to reuse the filter set and the column configuration later.

Shareable Presets

Any preset you create is automatically available to your colleagues, so you can all work with the same filtered view.

How Sorting Works⚓︎

Use sorting to prioritize what you see after (or without) filtering.

  • Select a column header to sort ascending; select again for descending.
  • Sorting applies to the current result set (it respects your filters).
  • You can change the visible columns at any time via the Gear icon to the far right; sorting only applies to columns currently shown.

Data Point Types⚓︎

Each data point (column) has a type, which defines the kind of data it holds and which filter operators are available.

Type Description Example Columns
Boolean Yes/No values Ignition, Driving Enabled, Tracking: Enabled
Number Whole numbers or decimals; may include units (km, %, volts) Mileage in km, State of Charge (%), Tilt: Angle in Degrees
Text Words, names, or IDs VIN, License Plate, Custom Name, Telematics Unit Type
Date/Time Date or timestamp values Last Contact, Created, Service Due Date
List Multiple values in one field Tags, Command Capabilities, Vehicle State Capabilities

Note

Operators like greater than or less than only appear for numbers or dates. Boolean fields never use these operators.

How Filtering Works⚓︎

A filter row has three parts:

  1. Data Point – The column you want to filter by
  2. Operator – How to compare (changes by data type)
  3. Value – The target value (for example, on/off, a number, text, or date).
For Date/Time fields, use the date picker. Some operators (such as exists) do not require a value.

Multiple filter rows combine with AND logic.
Use the minus (–) icon to remove a row.

  • Apply Filter – Runs the filter immediately
  • Undo Changes – Resets all rows to default

Example Filters⚓︎

  • Charging Status equals Charging — find EVs charging now
  • Last Contact less than 2025-08-01 — show vehicles without recent contact
  • State of Charge or Fuel Level (%) less than 20 — list vehicles with low fuel or battery

Best-Practice Filters⚓︎

Use these examples to make filters that you can use in your presets.

Manage Presets⚓︎

Presets bundle your filters and visible columns, so teams can reuse the same view.

  • Save as Preset: Configure columns/apply filter → Save as Preset.
  • Update an existing preset: Select the preset → adjust filters/columns → Save as Preset and reuse name.
  • Delete: Open Presets, then select the trash can next to the preset.
  • Sharing: Presets you create are automatically available for all users who have access to your fleet.

Tip

Name presets by purpose, not by author. Example: Low Battery (Vehicle), CloudBoxx Setup Failed, Parked + Low Fuel.

Available Data Points⚓︎

You can display any of the following data points as columns in the Vehicles table and use them in filters.
Availability depends on the telematics unit model, installation variant, vehicle make/model, and enabled additional features.

Troubleshooting⚓︎

No results after adding filters?
- Filters use AND logic. Remove one row at a time to find the blocker.
- Check the operator matches the data type (e.g., use in for multiple tags, not equals).

A column is missing for some vehicles?
- Not all data points are available on every vehicle. Availability depends on telematics model, installation variant, make/model, and enabled features.

Numbers, dates, or times look off?
- Use numeric operators for numeric fields (e.g., less than on Mileage).
- For Date/Time fields, use the date picker.

Text matches not working as expected?
- Try like for partial matches (e.g., License Plate like ABC) or in for multiple exact values.
