Adding Vehicles

Adding vehicles to your fleet is likely one of the first tasks you’ll tackle when working with FleetControl. You might want to set up a simulated vehicle to generate test data for your developers, or add an INVERS DevKit to experiment with the platform before deploying real hardware.

Requirement: Permission

To add vehicles to your fleet, you need the Vehicle Lifecycle permission. Check your User Management settings or contact your FleetControl admin if you cannot access this option.

Add a Simulated Vehicle or a DevKit

Here’s how to add simulated vehicles or an INVERS DevKit with a CloudBoxx to your fleet:

1. Access FleetControl.
2. Navigate to Vehicles.
3. Open the dot menu ….
4. Select Add Vehicle.

5. In the Add Vehicle To Fleet assistant, choose your telematics brand:

   • Telematics Brand

     • Simulated Vehicle
     • INVERS DevKit

The next steps depend on what you select:

Simulated Vehicle

6. Select a virtual vehicle model that generates the data points you need.
7. Enter a name for the virtual vehicle.
8. Show Details to enter and select basic vehicle information and details.
9. Click Save.
10. Choose one of the following options:
    • Add Vehicle to generate another virtual vehicle
    • Duplicate Vehicle to create a copy of the simulated vehicle
    • View Vehicle to inspect the vehicle details
    • Close the assistant

INVERS DevKit

6. Select an available telematics unit to connect.
7. Choose a vehicle model, such as the INVERS DevKit 4G.
8. Enter the necessary configuration data.
9. Click Save.

Note

We recommend using SmartControl or Installer Jobs for vehicle setup. The adding vehicle option in FleetControl is mainly designed for debugging and integration purposes—like setting up simulated vehicles or the INVERS DevKit for testing.
