Get Started with Installer Jobs (≤5 min)⚓︎
As a Fleet Manager, you need to set up and monitor CloudBoxx installations without exposing your entire fleet. Let’s set up your first installer job!
How to Set Up Your First Installer Job⚓︎
- Navigate to Fleet > Installer Jobs.
- Click Manage Companies (top-right corner).
- Select Invite Company, enter the partner’s email and Invite.
- When accepted, click New Job > Create Job.
- Select the Installer Company
- Fill in key details (VIN, license plate, job notes).
- Choose:
- Save & Assign (requires selecting an installer Company)
- Save (available if no installer Company is selected)
Set Up Installer Companies⚓︎
Use case: “Partner with trusted teams without giving broad access to your fleet.”
How to Invite an Installer Company⚓︎
- Navigate to Fleet > Installer Jobs.
- Click Manage Companies.
- Select Invite Company.
- Enter the company’s email and click Invite.
- Invitation status appears as Pending until accepted.
Tip
Only one invitation per fleet per company is needed. For multiple fleets, send separate invites.
Create and Assign Installation or Maintenance Jobs⚓︎
Use case: “Assign installation or maintenance work to an installer, specifying exactly what should be done and when.”
How to Create an Installation Job⚓︎
- Go to Installer Jobs.
- Click New Job.
- Choose Create New Job or Use Template.

Enter details such as:
- Vehicle: ABC-1234
- Hardware: CloudBoxx
- Service date: 2025-04-29

Choose Save without selecting an installer company to assign later.
- Click Save & Assign for immediate assignment.
Warning
After a job is assigned, you cannot edit or cancel it from FleetControl. If changes are needed, contact the installer company and have them fail the job. You can then create the job again.
How to Create a Maintenance Job⚓︎
- Go to Installer Jobs > Maintenance Jobs tab.
- Click New Job and fill in service details.
- Save & Assign or Save as above.
Tip
Double-check job details before assigning to avoid downstream changes.
Use Templates for Recurring Jobs⚓︎
Use case: “Standardize installations with reusable job templates.”
How to Create a Template⚓︎
- Go to Installer Jobs > Templates tab.
- Click New Template.
- Enter a template name (e.g., “EV Setup - Standard”).
- Fill in instructions and job details.
- Click Save.
You can also create a template while setting up a new job:
Activate Save as Template before saving the job, then provide a template name when prompted.
How to Use a Template⚓︎
- In Installer Jobs, go to Templates.
- Find your template.
- Click the dot menu (…) and select Create New Job.
- Review and update details as needed.
- Save & Assign or Save as desired.
Tip
You can also use a template from the Installation Jobs tab: Click New Job > Use Template > select from the dropdown.
Monitor Jobs & Status⚓︎
Use case: “See all ongoing installations and act quickly if jobs fail.”
How to Check Job Status⚓︎
- Access Installer Jobs.
- Filter by Status** (Pending, Assigned, Running, Succeeded, Failed).
- Click a job to view details and installer feedback.
Status guide:
- Pending: Editable, not yet assigned
- Assigned: Installer company notified
- Running: Installer is working on it
- Succeeded: Completed successfully
- Failed: Not completed (see comment for details)
Important
Installer access to vehicles ends automatically when the job is failed or marked succeeded—no action needed by you.
Edit, Duplicate, or Delete Jobs or Templates⚓︎
- Go to Installer Jobs.
- Select an item and click the dot menu (…).
- Select Edit, Duplicate, or Delete as needed.
- You cannot edit or cancel jobs after they’re assigned.
FAQ & Troubleshooting⚓︎
Why can’t I edit a job after assigning it?⚓︎
- For security, jobs become locked once assigned. Contact the installer company for changes.
An installer can’t access the vehicle. What should I do?⚓︎
- Check job status. If Assigned, confirm the installer has SmartControl app access and selected the correct fleet.
Can installers work on multiple fleets?⚓︎
- Yes, send separate invitations for each fleet.
