Firmware Updates

Welcome to the Firmware Updates section! Here, you can view the results of firmware updates for the telematics units installed in your vehicles. These updates are initiated on the Vehicles page in the dot menu under Firmware Updates.

The Firmware Updates table displays all firmware updates triggered for your fleet in FleetControl. These updates can be initiated by you or other users with access to your fleet.

Requirement: Permission

Updating firmware for the telematics units in your fleet requires the Vehicle Lifecycle permission.

If you think you should be able to make these changes, please adjust your own permissions under User Management or reach out to your company’s FleetControl admin.

  3. Select Retry Firmware Updates
  4. Choose the target version
  5. Click Update
  6. Confirm with Start Update

Cancel Firmware Updates⚓︎

If you’ve scheduled firmware updates that haven’t started yet, you can now cancel them directly in FleetControl. This is useful if, for example, a wrong version was selected or you need to in- or exclude vehicles in the update job.

How It Works⚓︎

Only updates with the status Pending can be canceled. Once an update has started, it will continue until finished.

Steps to Cancel Pending Updates⚓︎

  1. Go to FleetFirmware Updates.
  2. Select (1) one or more firmware updates with the status Pending.
Selected firmware update job with status *Pending*
  1. Open the dot menu (2) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Cancel Firmware Updates (3)
  3. In the confirmation dialog, review the message and select Cancel [X] Updates to confirm.

  4. Once confirmed, the selected updates change their status to Cancelled.
A toast appears at the bottom of the page: “X firmware update(s) canceled successfully.”

A message will appear to let you know that the cancellation was successful

Tip

There are two ways to cancel updates:

  • The Cancel button (4) in a single table row cancels only that one firmware update — it ignores any selected checkboxes.
  • The Cancel Firmware Updates (3) option in the dot menu (…) cancels all selected updates at once.
